The Beauty of Chiang Mai, Thailand

Chiang Mai is the capital of the Chiang Mai Province and is the largest and most culturally significant city in northern Thailand. The city is 700 km (435 mi) north of Bangkok, among the highest mountains in Thailand.

Chiang Mai means "new city" and is so called because it replaced the old capital Chiang Rai in 1296. In recent years Chiang Mai has become increasingly modern and has been attracting millions of visitors each year. With the cultural significance of this city and the beauty of it's architecture, food and people; why not join the over 5 million visitors to Chiang Mai.

Here are 2 points of interest in Chiang Mai to get you started:

Wat Rong Khun

"The White Temple" as it is called by many foreigners is a contemporary unconventional Buddhist temple, designed by Chalermchai Kositpipat in 1997.

Some parts of the temple is being reconstructed due to a recent earthquake on May 5, 2014. However, on May 8, 2014 the temple grounds was reopened to visitors, with the gallery building open and pictures of the other buildings are allowed from the outside.

Although not completely reconstructed or open to visit; it is still one of the most marvelous architecture of the world and deserves a photo or two. Of course be sure to visit again when the reconstruction is complete.

Night Bazaar

Discover shopping in a different and unique way. The Night Bazaar is one of Chiang Mai's best nightlife experiences. Located in the heart of the city, on Chang Khlan Road.

It is famous for the handicrafts and portrait paintings that are sold. You can also find jewelry, clothes, and maybe even hi-tech items such as DVDs.

Travelers' Classification

Everyone has their different reasons for travelling; you know like simply travelling for a family vacation. With so many reasons to travel, we have grouped the reasons and classified each traveler by these reasons. Now this does not mean a person is just one type of traveler because we all travel for more than one reason.

THE ALPHA & BETA TESTERS
Have you ever had a friend who dreams of travelling to the most remote parts of the globe, or maybe always visits a country you have never even heard of? (The same friends that will go backpacking around the world.) Well we have classified these travelers as the Alpha & Beta Testers. These are one type of explorers in the group that seek out new places to appease their overflowing curiosity. They usually want to experience the whole culture of a new place; eat the food, dress like natives if possible, and maybe even catch on to a few phrases in the countries' language. The Alpha Tester is the first in your circle of friends to travel to a new country and return with good news about their experience. The Beta Tester usually then goes as confirmation to the rest of the group. When the Beta Tester returns with good news; the entire circle of friends wish to travel to the country just like a new product being released onto the market.

THE ADRENALINE JUNKIE
We all know these travelers; they are the next type of explorers but the hardcore explorers. These are the adventurers and thrill seekers who are going out just for the fun of it. Their adventure never ends; and with activities like Scuba diving, Sand surfing, Bungy jumping, and the list goes on; we can see the never ending possibilities to explore for these travelers. They usually have the most elaborate and exciting stories to tell everyone and of course hopefully unlimited footage of their escapade. The Adrenaline Junkies are the dare devils we all inspire to be and hope to do something outrageous and just for the thrills.

THE FREQUENT FLYER
The title suggests what these travelers do and it is flying frequently. Their reasons alone for flying so often is a long but we will mention a few. We have the business frequent flyer who is always on the next plane after another for work related reasons. Another frequent flyer is the person who has friends and family in other places and this traveler to visit them regularly; really they would die if they missed the chance to visit. This also includes families and persons who travel for the holidays or when on vacation. We also have the shoppers who travel for well the latest fashion and to just shop in another country. There are also those of that fell in love with a particular destination that we visit it regularly but for whatever reason can't move there or just has not planned to as yet.

THE HONEYMOONERS
This classification not only refers to the couple on their honeymoon but it's also for the married couple traveling for their anniversary and maybe even the unmarried couple who love traveling together. Why not also for the persons in long distance relationships that yearn to visit each other every year? Whichever scenario you fall in we have dubbed you the romantics of all travelers. Looking at these travelers we can't help but feel we are watching a live romantic comedy. The honeymooners seem to live out the script for The Notebook and honestly they either give the rest of us hope in finding our significant other, or they make us downright jealous. But no matter how they make us feel; we commend the honeymooners for trying to keep the love alive by traveling.

Most Adventurous Activities For Any Vacation

The thrill-seekers are travelers that yearn for adventure, excitement, and the adrenaline rush. Here are some activities to do while on vacation. They are sure to get your heart pounding fast and yet leave you wanting to do it over again and again.
  1.  Ziplining. Flash through the air at speeds comparable to a Ferrari. At heights that could make anyone dizzy and get your heart pounding, ziplining provides the ultimate adrenaline rush for the die hard thrill-seeker. Don't worry you're also securely attached to safety harness.

  2.  Skydiving. For the best adrenaline rush and heart-pounding experience, not many activities can compare to the thrill of launching out of an airplane and plummeting to the ground. It is a breathtaking adventure to free fall and view the scenery as you release the parachute to catch your breath.
  3. Shark Diving. This activity isn't for the faint of heart but for the most valiant of all the thrill-seekers. Up to the challenge? Then take a dip in the ocean being so close to wild sharks that you can feel the brush of their fin next to you.
  4. Bungee Jumping. If plunging to the ground and just before hitting it you bounce back up like a yo-yo seems like fun, then bungee jumping is for you. The thrill comes from both the free fall and the rebound from the elastic chord that is attached to you.
  5. Sandboarding. Ride across or down sand dunes while attached to a board. It's the recreational cousin to snowboarding, this activity is new and gaining fast popularity. So why not take the most exciting way to get across a desert.
